Think about your paper sizes

Then think about the type of printing you want

Your main choice will be between litho and digital print, which depends on the type of print you want, the quantity, the colour and the size.  A good printer will be able to advise you what the best option for you will be.

Litho

Digital

  • High image quality
  • Works on a wide range of printing surfaces, including paper, wood, cloth, metal, leather, rough paper and plastic
  • The unit cost goes down as the quantity goes up
  • Quality and cost-effectiveness in high volume jobs
  • More choice on paper weight
  • More versatility on paper sizes
  • Good for specialist colour print, such as metallic

  • Cost effective with low quantities of 500 or less
  • Every print is the same. More accurate counts, less waste and fewer variations
  • Shorter turnaround
  • Can do variable data printing using information from a database or external file; text and graphics can be changed on each piece without stopping or slowing down the press
  • Good for mono or full-colour
  • When printing on uncoated papers, digital print tends to give a much sharper and brighter print
